Cheval Blanc

Population : 3.581

Département of theVaucluse

Situated 6 km south of Cavaillon

Cheval Blanc is situated between the Luberon and the Durance river. Visitors will enjoy the tranquillity of this small village just a few kilometres away from Cavaillon, which offers all the conveniences of a larger town.

Cheval Blanc is the first stop in a series of pretty villages in the southern Luberon which stretch as far as Pertuis. These include: Oppèdes, Mérindol, Lourmarin, Cadenet, Ansouis... You will also appreciate the beautiful surroundings of the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon.

Cheval Blanc is the gateway to the Luberon. The colours of the surrounding countryside are in perfect harmony with the magnificent backdrop created by the river and the mountain. The Durance and its canals bring freshness and fertility to the orchards and farms while walking trails which start at the village lead you to the summit of the Luberon.

Cheval Blanc is lucky enough to have the superb Gorges de Régalon on its doorstep. These canyons and gorges which plunge to a depth of 30 metres, shelter a magnificent forest filled with oak trees, maples, Alep pines, cherry trees, fig trees... eagles, vultures, lizards, butterflies and owls...

Thanks to the shade provided by the oaks of Bonnieux, the Gorges de Régalon is one of the best places to go hiking during the hot summer months of July and August. For the record, the name "Cheval Blanc" originates from an old inn which offered refreshments to travellers taking the ferry across the river...
