Beaumont de Pertuis is a small village situated in the Parc
Naturel du Luberon on the
border of the Alpes de Haute Provence,
the Var and the Bouches
du Rhône.
A
busy road once ran through the middle of Beaumont de Pertuis which was
a prosperous medieval market town in the 14th century. With more than
1,000 inhabitants at the time, Beaumont de Pertuis belonged to one of
the largest communes in France!!
A delightful walk up the hill leads
to the Ste Croix chapel where you can admire the landscape and a panoramic
view of the Luberon, and both the Lure and the Sainte Victoire mountains.
This spot is practically the intersection
of four départements! You
can discover the beautiful countryside in the heart of Provence while
navigating your way between the four départements which offer
: route de la lavande ,
route de l'ocre, cycling tracks
from village to village and the
Gorges du Verdon. The
food in this region is delicious and the local produce available is
excellent. Don't miss out on "les petits fromages de chêvre" or
goats cheese - with crunchy fresh bread and a glass of red wine, it's
delicious!!! |
