Pop. : 6.479 h. Surface : 2,690 ha

Var Department

On route N7, 3 km. west of Fréjus .
This ancient fortified city is situated in the lower valley of the Argens, in the plains of an old estuary. At a stategic point between the Haut Var and the Maritime Alps. Puget sur Argens wants to be recognized as a refuge from the summer hoards.

The medieval village has narrow streets, old homes, and squares complete with fountains. The Porte Beffroi in the ancient ramparts is erowned by a lovely campanile of 1775. The little Gothic church St. Jacques le Majeur, and the Romanesque chapel Ste. Philomene are also worth the visit.

Puget sur Argens is surrounded by pine groves and streams in the midst of wild flowers, making an ideal setting for walks.

The lovely parasol pines give off a feeling of serenity along with their shade, thus enhancing the sensation of peace away from the shore's commotion.
