Pierrefeu is right at the border
ot the Massif des Maures. It is settled at the foot of a rocky peak that
keeps guard over the village.
On the banks ot the Real Martin you
will find an environment of greenery and sun. In the surrounding hills,
the rich past of Pierrefeu can be seen at different ancient sites such
as Castellas, Peyrac, and Quatre Termes.
The
reputed vineyards and wooded areas that surround Pierrfeu make for wonderful
hiking country, crossing through fields and country tracks, and for the
hardy, going all the way to the coast, 15 kilometers away.
At the entrance to the village, on the terrace
that looks over the plains, is a monument in the form of a wing. It
was erected in memory of the dirigible "Dixmude" that was
destroyed by a storm on the coast of Sicily in 1923. |
