Névache
is a charming mountain village nestling in the heart of the high valley
of La Clarée.
It is reached by taking a little road that runs along the
banks of a pretty bubbling river, after passing through several hamlets
with shingle roofs and old stones worn by time and the elements.
This enchanting valley is bucolic and peaceful, wild and protected, planted
with fir trees and surrounded
by rocky cliffs and peaks.
It is a wonder of nature, a paradise for cyclists
and anglers, and also has some interesting heritage worth discovering: the
church of Saint Claude de Val-des-Prés, wall paintings at the hamlet of
Plampinet (16th century), numerous sundials…
Also don't forget the nearby Col de l'Izoard (2360 m), a Mecca for cyclists,
offering a superb panoramic view from its orientation table, over
the mountains of the Briançon area and the Queyras area. In this valley
blessed by the gods sits Névache, its wooden chalets adorned with drying
balconies and awnings, with nearby fountains and bread ovens, on gently
sloping meadows where horses trot.
Here, verdant lawns and tumultuous mountain streams with crystal clear water
and jagged peaks share the landscape in total harmony. Ideal for Green holidays,
with the pure mountain air, sunny and dry. You could even "make hay" with
the local farmers !!
