Saint Estève Janson
|
![]() |
22 km north-west of Aix
en Provence via the N96 then the D543.
|
The village does not have any particularly significant sites to
see, although you can still visit the crumbling walls of the ancient Janson
chateau. You can also discover the remains of the chateau's monumental
chimmney in the natural reserve of the "Haras de Saint-Estève". The village has a cave classified as an "Historic Monument", known as the "grotte de l'Escale". Discovered in 1960, it is of great geological interest as traces of early human occupation have been found. The cave is today under scientific exploration and unfortunately not open to the public. Instead, visitors can take advantage of the pleasant walking trails around the village. |
