60km north of Nice on the N202 via St Martin du Var
or the D19 via Levens then the D2565.

The Vésubie's winding road will lead you through its gorge
to discover this mountain village nestling by the river.

The old village was originally located on the left bank of the river but it was partially destroyed by a landslide in 1926. Though its dilapidated facades are not very attractive, don't miss out on a visit to the Saint-Michel de Gast church, on the banks of the Vésubie.
It is a pure gothic building with a Romanesque bell tower, with 16th century altar pieces inside .

On the right bank is the large recently constructed market town
where you will find a bank and shops. The town hall is an enormous building standing on the main square, built from an astonishing blend of stone and brick.

Roquebillière is surrounded by mountains (including Tête de Siruol at 2053 m), making it the ideal place to recharge your batteries, thanks in particular to its spa : Berthemont les Bains open from April to October.

It has been a spa town since the Roman period and was a fashionable resort in the middle of the 19th century. Berthemont les Bains offers treatment for rheumatism and respiratory problems in a peaceful setting, amongst chestnut trees.

For those who already are in good health and wish an active holiday there are possibilities to organise a wonderful programme of activities in the context of the superb Mercantour National Park.
