Highway A8 exit Nice Est.
Take route RN 2204 heading to Sospel. 16 km. from Nice.

 

Contes is one of the oldest villages of the Nice area. Perched on a rocky spur (Lou Cuorn), Contes was able to survey the valley of Paillon and if needed offer shelter in its castrum to the people.  

There are many details that evoke the past of Conte such as the ramparts, semi-circular vaults, fountains, and lintels.

Renaissance fountain (two levels, 1587).
Ste. Marie Magdaleine Church.
An ancient blacksmith's workshop. Oil mill.
Bernard Pagis-Sculptor.
