Nibles
is a micro-village that possesses nonetheless a "mairie" and a
beautiful church standing in the flower filled square. It is located in
a site that is as peaceful as it is pastoral, surrounded by cultivated fields
as far as the eye can see.
Apart from its authentic natural setting, one of Nibles' charming aspects
is the old barns that are going to ruin, its (superb) large dried up fountain,
its old abandoned dovecote with pink and grey stonework, the seventies Mercedes
rusting in a meadow
In an amazing contrast, at the bottom of a lane
overgrown with weeds is a superb perfectly restored building in dressed
stone!
You
may be surprised to realise that Nibles lives, one or two farms are still
in activity, there is a house for rent and the unmistakable odour of a
barbecue testify that the village is not dead!
We were able to meet the deputy mayor, who spoke highly of Nibles
for example, the "sentier des
Contes" (Path of Tales), an adventure to enjoy with all the family:
all you have to do is buy the "magic booklet" (30 euros) and
off you go on a journey to "the country where rocks talk"! Information
from the tourist office at La Motte du Caire.
