Marcoux
Pop. : 414 h. Elevation : 700 m.

Department : Alpes de Haute Provence

From Digne take the D900 and then the D22

This small village set against a spectacular cliff stratified with black marl clay lies slightly above the level of the Bléone's plain, which has been cultivated since the time of the Gallo-Romans!

A superb panorama of the surrounding summits can be enjoyed from the village: peaks of Couard, Cheval Blanc, Trois Évêques and Blayeul.

Park under the chestnut trees on the square, and you're ready for a little tour of Marcoux: two streets and some stairways off to the sides, a kitchen garden where tomatoes grow, roughcast house fronts brightened with blue and yellow shutters, a pile of wood waiting for winter in a barn, a few impressive modern houses, with flower-filled gardens shaded by fig trees or lime trees, where the inevitable barbecue has pride of place ...

Why not rent a house here, to enjoy a nice grilled lunch in your garden, in complete serenity?
