4 KM South of Forcalquier, take the N100 then the D13.

Mane is a beautiful village located at the heart of the "pays de Forcalquier" and the magnificent landscapes which change with the passage of the seasons.

Wide open cultivated fields and hill and valleys surround the village under one of the purest skies in Provence.

Well before you arrive you'll see the village in the distance, rolling uniquely round the hillside, and ringed by a double rampart.  

Visit the village and you'll discover the baroque façade of Saint André's church (XV° and XVII° C) with its two monumental doors, bell tower and dressed stone steeple which is 31 meters high. In the "Rue Haute", admire the Miravail "hôtel particulier" dating from the XVI° and XVIII° centuries. Ramparts, monuments, "hôtels particuliers" and ancient village houses were mainly built from the local "la pierre de Mane" taken from the local quarries and giving a special harmony to the village.

Le Prieuré de Salagon Mane is lucky to have the unique complete fortification in Haute Provence dating from earlier than XVII° century. Discover them by climbing up to the summit of the village, going round the walls of the citadel, and you'll see the door keep and watch towers.

From the citadel a superb view awaits you over the Mane plain, the domes of the St Michel Observatory and the Luberon, with in the foreground the pretty mosaic of the village roof tops.
2 Km from Mane, you can discover the Château de Sauvan ( which is also called the "petit Trianon provençal") built in 1720 and wonderfully restored true to its French classical style.
The "Conservatoire du Patrimoine Ethnologique de la Haute Provence" can be found at the superb ND de Salagon Priory and hosts exhibitions explaining its research, a herb garden and medieval garden.
