La Bréole is known for the siege of its chateau by the Catholics in 1586 during the wars of religion, These days it is no more than a modest and peaceful village overlooked by a church with a square bell tower.

It is located on a enchanting site overlooking the Serre-Ponçon lake, on which it has a pier. The mountain air here is remarkably pure.

You may be welcomed by the barking of dogs and birdsong, you may even meet the green-fingered Sunday gardener who is responsible for the green lawns decorated with the multi-coloured tulips.

From the pier, (that can be reached via the D57), you will be able to take boat trips or windsurf to the small sheltered peaceful coves.

Several craftsmen working in wrought iron, earthenware and leather have settled in La Bréole, as well as a sculptor.

Here you can also purchase organic produce, goat's cheese on the farm
and even a beautiful locally created mohair pull-over !
