March 1597/November 1598 - Louis de Lombard acquired
the entire lords for 12 000 ECU'S.
30 August 1597 - Patent letters of Henri IV, exposed in the castle.
1610 - Edification of the arrades and of the first floor, in
the spirit of the Vosgue Place in Paris (1607).
1653 - Edification of the first floor by Francois of Lombard,
whom married Gabrielle of Grimaldi in 1654.
19 May 1643 - The great Count, Duke of Enghien, honoured the
Lord of Gourdon for serving her majesty with dignity and for loosing
an arm from a shot gun wound in the battle of Rocroy.
1746 - Austria's successive wars. The sergeant of Guise stayed
in the c astle and had a duel with the Marquees of Bissy in its park.
The revolution - John-Paul I of Lombard did not emigrate. His
presence and liberal ideas saved his castle from devastation. Only the
towers and the north dungeon were affected, reducing it to one floor.
1820 - John-Paul II, captain of the Royal Loraine Cavalry regiment,
mayor of Gourdon since 07 October 1809 died. The castle was then handed
to his nephew, the Marquees Ferdinand of Villenerve Bargemont.
1918/1938 - The castle was no longer the property of the Lombard's,
Miss Noms an American citizen became the owner.
1942/1945 - The German troops occupied the castle.
1950 - The castle was opened to the public.
